Tapia tabbed as All-American

ORANGE, Calif. – Senior Owen Tapia was selected as the All-America Third Team punter by D3football.com. He became the fourth punter in Chapman's history to earn All-America distinction and the second in the last five years.

Tapia had a record-breaking season despite being called on to punt a career-low 20 times. In his 20 punts, he averaged 46.5 yards per punt and dropped 11 inside the 20. He also broke his own school record when he unleashed an 80-yard punt – one of the longest in Division III this season – against Whittier.

During conference play, Tapia consistently pinned opponents deep as 10 of his 12 punts fell inside the 20 and his record-breaking punt rolled in for a touchback.

Tapia joins Elias Deeb, Matt George and Mario Acosta as Chapman All-American punters. Tapia's selection continues Chapman's All-American streak to four consecutive seasons. Deeb earned his second career honor in 2018, followed by back-to-back All-American years from linebacker Dillon Keefe in 2019 and 2021 (there was no season in 2020 due to COVID).
