Wood tops 1,000 career points in Chapman win

PHOENIX, Ariz. - With 13 points on Thursday night in a 79-66 win over Southwestern College, Chapman University men's basketball player Kyle Wood became just the seventh player in school history to reach 1,000 career points. Wood entered the game just two shy with 998 and now has 1,011 points in 100 career games.

Thursday's win marked the Panthers' eighth consecutive victory, improving to 18-2 overall. No. 13-ranked Chapman was led by junior G Griffin Ramme who scored a team-high 18 points, including 6-for-8 shooting from the field and four three-pointers. Five Panthers in all scored in double figures.

Wood, a senior from San Clemente, has started all 19 games for the Panthers this year and is the team's second-leading scorer averaging just over 13 points per game.

Wood is the first Chapman player to top 1,000 career points since Patrick Carney and Zach Wheatley topped the mark in 2006. With 1,011 career points, Wood is just 67 points shy of moving into fourth place all-time.
