Nothing but love for seniors in Valentine's Day home finale

ORANGE, Calif. – The Chapman University men's basketball team capped its home season with a convincing 72-39 victory over visiting West Coast Baptist College on Monday night at Hutton Center. The Panthers wrapped up a perfect 8-0 season at home and won for the 15th straight time on their own floor.

Valentine's Day took a backseat to 'Senior Night', with seniors Justin Riley and Griffin Ramme leading the way for Chapman (20-3). Riley moved into seventh place on the Panthers' all-time scoring list with a game-high 13 points, giving him 1,289 points and surpassing Tim Werdel. Riley's scoring totals are also good for second on Chapman's Division III scoring list (since 1994). The senior forward added five rebounds and a pair of assists.

Ramme scored 12 points, including a pair of three-pointers, and currently ranks fourth on the Panthers' Division III scoring list with 1,217 points. The guard added five assists, five rebounds and three steals – adding to his Chapman steals record (163).

The Panthers built a sizeable 43-18 lead by halftime and then opened the second half on a 10-0 run to extend their lead to 35 points. Chapman led by as many as 40 points midway through the second half. The Panthers shot 58.2 percent from the field in the game.

Seniors Jon Consani (eight points, eight rebounds), Max Piner (six points) and Matt Kohorst (four points, three steals) also played in the final regular season home game of their college careers.

Chapman clinched its sixth consecutive 20-win season under head coach Mike Bokosky with still four games remaining in the regular season. The Panthers – who are ranked No. 16 in the nation by D3Hoops.com – are hoping for another at-large NCAA tournament berth and return trip to the playoffs, where they reached the second round in 2010.
