White earns second consecutive SCIAC weekly award

ORANGE, Calif. – Junior Chandler White helped the Chapman University men's basketball team to a perfect 2-0 week, earning SCIAC Offensive Athlete of the Week.

White's Offensive Athlete of the Week Award comes after the power forward earned Defensive Athlete of the Week honors just last week. This week, White put up huge numbers on offense, averaging 19.5 points per game in a week that the Panthers defeated Cal Lutheran 86-51 and La Sierra 84-51.

The Trabuco Canyon, Calif. native scored 25 points in Chapman's first SCIAC win of the year, adding nine rebounds, a block and an assist to his stat line. In the Panthers' non-conference win over La Sierra, White scored 14 points, grabbed seven rebounds and dished out two assists.

White shot 60.9 percent from the field and 72.7 percent from the free-throw line to lead Chapman to a 5-1 start to the season. The two wins were his third and fourth double-digit scoring games of the season.

The Panthers take a few days off before returning to Hutton Sports Center on Friday, Dec. 13 at 7 p.m. to host West Coast Baptist in a non-conference matchup.
