Chandler White scores 25 as Chapman routs Whittier

ORANGE, Calif. - Junior Chandler White led the way for the Panthers as they routed SCIAC-rival Whittier 75-56. White, who shot 5-7 from behind the arc in the first half, finished the game with 25 points and six made three-pointers.

Chapman jumped out to a quick 23-13 advantage before Whittier went on a run of their own to cut the lead to 23-20. It was then that Chapman completely took over. They scored 24 straight points as they held the Poets scoreless for nearly seven minutes and went into the break leading 49-27.

As a team, the Panthers shot 8-15 from behind the arc and 52.9% from the field in the first half. Defensively they turned the Poets over nine times in the first 20 minutes and 16 times in the game.

It was more of the same in the second half, as the Panthers saw their lead swell to 30 points early. The Poets went on a minor run as they tried to make things interesting late, but they were never able to get the deficit to less than 15.

Junior Kenyatta Louder led the Poets in scoring racking up 14 points. He was one of four Whittier players in double figures, including Nick Colosi who recorded a double-double of 12 points and 10 rebounds.

Colosi wasn't the only player on the court to record a double-double. Chapman sophomore Alex Rogat also managed one, scoring 11 points and recording 14 rebounds in the win.

The victory was huge for the Panthers who came into the game tied for sixth in the SCIAC standings with Whittier. They now sit at 6-6 and are still in contention to make the SCIAC tournament as one of the top four teams in the league.

The Panthers now hit the road for three straight, before returning home for the season finale on Tuesday, February 25 against Claremont-Mudd-Scripps. Tipoff for that contest is scheduled for 7 P.M.
