Men's basketball bests the Beavers

ORANGE, Calif. — The Chapman University men's basketball team secured a 69-55 win over the Caltech Beavers. The Panthers found their momentum early in the game and never gave up the lead, four out of five starters put up double-digits in points for Chapman.

Senior guard Jack Roggin led the game offensively with 20 points, tying his season-high in points. He was assisted by senior forwards Anthony Smith with 14 points and Anthony Giomi with 11 points. Roggin almost put up a perfect offensive first half as he shot 4-5 from the field only missing one three-point attempt.

Both teams struggled to protect the ball as both teams finished the game with 19 total turnovers and eight steals. Although both teams gave up the ball, Chapman dominated in points off turnovers and served up 21 compared to Caltech's 12.

The Panthers finished the first half with a 34-24 lead that would eventually grow to a 20-point lead after an 11-0 scoring run to start the second half. Caltech would respond with a 7-0 scoring run of their own in the second. Caltech's offense couldn't keep their momentum as the Panthers would gain their biggest lead of the game with a 22-point lead with 5:31 left to play.

The Panthers will host the Whittier Poets at home on Wed., Jan. 26 at 7:00 p.m. PST where the Panthers will look to protect their home court and extend their winning streak to four games.
