Heberle honored as SCIAC Offensive Athlete of the Week
ORANGE, Calif. – Jake Heberle earned his first career award as the SCIAC Offensive Athlete of the Week. The freshman averaged 22.5 points and 6.5 rebounds per game. He is Chapman's third player to earn the honor this year.
Heberle caught fire in the Panthers' win over Bethesda, shooting 10-for-11 on the night and 4-for-4 from the line. He scored 26 points to lead Chapman to a 103-94 win. He scored 19 more points in an 80-73 SCIAC win at Whittier, sinking three more three-pointers.
The Mission Viejo native is averaging 17.4 points per game in his freshman season and shooting over 50 percent from three-point range this season. He missed from the free throw line for the first time this season but still leads Division III with a 96.9 free throw percentage. His three-point percentage of 50.9 also ranks seventh in Division III.
The Panthers are riding a four-game winning streak as they jump into the SCIAC season. The season continues tonight at Pomona-Pitzer at 7 p.m.
