Panthers finish sixth in SCIAC Tournament #2

CHINO HILLS, Calif. - The Chapman University men's golf team finished sixth in its second SCIAC tournament hosted by Pomona-Pitzer Colleges at Los Serranos Country Club over the weekend of April 11-12. The Panthers finished two rounds with a score of 615, finishing ahead of SCIAC rivals Pomona-Pitzer (620) and Whittier College (643).

Once again, University of Redlands remained at the top of the leader board finishing first in the SCIAC tournament with a final score of 573, while La Verne finished second at 292 and Claremont-Mudd-Scripps finished third with a score of 291.

Sophomore Bryan Wise led Chapman on the 72-par course over both rounds played with a total score of 151 (+7), including a low score of 74 on Day 1 of the tournament. Wise finished in a four way tie for eighteenth place with Alex Hird from Cal Lutheran, Jake Ryan from Redlands and Justin Beck from Claremont-Mudd-Scripps

Not far behind, finishing in 26th place was senior Kent Paisley who improved his score on Day 2 from a 78 to a 76 for a total of 154. Paisley's currently ranks third on the team with a 79.9 (+7.9) average this season.  

Senior Giovanni Chiappano finished just one stroke behind Paisley with a score of 155, improving his score by 11 strokes in the second round of competition from an 83 to72 (par).

The Panthers will go on to face Whittier College, who finished eighth in this tournament, on Monday, April 20 at the California Country Club. Chapman will then enter the SCIAC Championships at Oak Valley Golf Club beginning on Sunday, April 26.
