Keating finishes top-10 in first SCIAC tournament

VENTURA, Calif. – The Chapman University men's golf team placed fifth in the first SCIAC golf match of the spring season. Freshman Avery Keating led the Panthers, finishing tied for seventh place after shooting 71 (-1) on day one and 74 (+2) on day two of the competition.

Junior Griffin Tso was the next to finish, tying for 11th place. After shooting 76 (+4) on Saturday, he improved his total score to 147 with a 71 (-1) day on Sunday. Finishing one point behind Tso tied for 14th place was sophomore Ricky Hoefert, who shot a 75 (+3) on day one and a 73 (+1) on day two.

After shooting a 77 (+5) on day one, freshman Brody Hval was able to improve his total score and finish tied for 20th by shooting a 73 (+1) on day two of competition. In 25th place and just one point behind Hval was junior Dallas Haun, who shot a 75 (+3) on day one and a 76 (+4) on day two. Rounding out the Panthers was sophomore Brent Bjorndahl, who finished with a total score of 162 after shooting 82 (+10) on day one and 80 (+8) on day two.

Chapman takes the next week off but hosts Cal Lutheran on Monday, March 5 at Tustin Ranch golf course.
