Rogers' top-10 finish highlights SCIAC #2

PASADENA, Calif. – Sophomore Sian Rogers placed in the top-10 and the Chapman University men's golf team took fifth at SCIAC #2. The Panthers top-5 finishers were sub-80 in both rounds at the low-scoring tournament.

Rogers consistent performance over both rounds gave him his first career top-10 finish at a SCIAC event. He was three-over par on the first day with a 75 and added just one stroke on the second day to pull into a tie for ninth with a tournament card of 151 (+7). His day two score of 76 (+4) catapulted him up seven spots into the top-10.

Freshman Brody Hval led the Panthers with a 74 (+2) on the first day but added five strokes on the second day to finish nine-over par with a 153 for the tournament. He tied for 14th on the leaderboard and equaled junior Griffin Tso. Tso shot a 77 (+5) and a 76 (+6) to finish 11-over for the tournament as well.

Freshman Avery Keating was the fourth Panther in the clubhouse with a two-day score of 155 (+11)

As a team, the Panthers placed fifth after day one and stayed in the same team position after the second day. Chapman fired a 302 (+14) on the first day and followed it up with a 309 (+19) for finish 33-over par for the tournament. The Panthers trailed Cal Lutheran by just four strokes in the team standings and Redlands by eight strokes for a spot in the top-3.

The Panthers will take on Cal Lutheran on April 12 before heading out to Los Serranos Golf Club for the SCIAC Championship April 22-24.
