Panthers defeat Redlands and improve to 3-0 in SCIAC

ORANGE, Calif. – The Chapman University men's soccer team kicked off its home opener with its third straight win in conference to defeat University of Redlands 1-0 Wednesday at Wilson Field. The Panthers', now 3-0 in SCIAC, have won three straight and with Wednesday's win the team is 3-1 overall.

Chapman was led by sophomore M Marco Saglimbeni who scored the only goal of the night off of an assist from junior M Boston Kimmel 21 minutes into the second half. Saglimbeni scored his second game-winning goal in the past three games now leads the Panthers with three goals. Kimmel added his second assist to the season improving his career total to 6.

Junior goalkeeper Nick Berardi recorded his second shut-out of the season recording four saves for four shots on goal, doubling his total saves for the season. This was only the second time in the past five match ups that the Panthers have defeated the Bulldogs.

The Panthers put their unbeaten SCIAC mark on the line again Saturday 7 p.m. at Wilson Field against SCIAC rival Claremont-Mudd-Scripps.
