Panthers play to draw with Beavers

ORANGE, Calif. –The Chapman University men's soccer team fought into double overtime with Caltech to draw a 1-1 score for the Panthers and Beavers Saturday at Wilson Field. The Panthers move to 4-3-1 in SCIAC and 4-4-1 overall.

Sophomore M Marco Saglimbeni led the Panthers into double overtime, scoring his seventh goal of the season, to tie the game up 1-1 at 46:55 in the second half. However, the sophomore's goal would be Chapman's only goal of the night.

The Poets jumped on the board early with a 1-0 lead scoring off a penalty kick from senior Marec Serlin at 27:51 in the first half.

Forced to play a man down, the Panthers turned to their offense, taking 17 shots on goal after the first half and 25 overall. The Panther defense only allowed the Beavers 13 shots on the night.

The Beavers ended their nine-game losing streak on Saturday as they move to 0-9-1 overall and 0-6-1 in SCIAC.

The Panthers will play their next two SCIAC games on the road, then return home to Wilson Field on Oct. 13 to face off against La Verne at 7 p.m.
