Four men's soccer players earn All-SCIAC honors

ORANGE, Calif. – Chapman University sophomore M Marco Saglimbeni headlines a cast of four Panthers who have been named to the 2014 SCIAC All-Conference Men's Soccer Team, as voted on by the coaches. Saglimbeni was named to the first team while senior D Josh Hale, junior M Boston Kimmel and sophomore D Connor Tobia each earned second team honors.

Chapman's four All-Conference selections are its most since becoming eligible for postseason honors in 2012.

Saglimbeni led the Panthers and was tied for third in the SCIAC with 11 goals this season, including five game-winning goals. The sophomore also set a career-high with 24 total points (11 goals, two assists) which ranked fourth in the conference. The award marks the first such postseason honor of his career.

Meanwhile, Kimmel has now earned All-SCIAC honors three years running, named to the second team each season of his career. The junior ranked second on the team with seven goals (two game-winners) and 18 points and tied for the team lead with four assists. Kimmel (vs. Occidental) and Saglimbeni (vs. Whittier) both earned their first career hat tricks this season.

Anchoring the Chapman defense to a team goals-against average of 1.32 overall which ranked third in the conference were defenders Hale and Tobia. The senior Hale led Chapman with 1,632 minutes, starting in all 19 matches and earning one assist. Tobia was third on the team with 1,555 minutes and scored his first career goal vs. Claremont-Mudd-Scripps on Sept. 20. It is the first All-Conference honor for either player.
