Saglimbeni earns Academic All-District honors

ORANGE, Calif. – Chapman University junior captain Marco Saglimbeni earned Academic All-District honors from the College Sports Information Directors of America, announced on Thursday, Oct. 29.

This is the first time in his career that he has earned the prestigious award. Saglimbeni also received SCIAC All-Academic team honors and was named to the All-SCIAC First Team in his sophomore season.

Saglimbeni will advance to the national ballot for Academic All-America consideration. The San Jose native was the only student-athlete from the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference to receive first team honors.

The midfielder has a 3.93 grade point average and is majoring in biological sciences.

Saglimbeni currently leads Chapman with nine goals and four assists. His nine goals rank third in the SCIAC as do his 22 points. He is just one goal shy of becoming the first Panther since 1999-00 to record double-digit back-to-back goal scoring seasons.

About the CoSIDA Capital One All-District Process: To be eligible for Academic All-District consideration, a student-athlete must be a varsity starter or key reserve, maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.30 (on 4.00 scale), have reached sophomore athletic and academic standings at his/her current institution and be nominated by his/her sports information director.

Nominations and voting for the All-District and All-America programs are conducted by members of the College Sports Information Directors of America.
