ORANGE, Calif. – The Chapman men's tennis team lost two matchups this weekend against No. 14 nationally-ranked Texas-Tyler 9-0 on Friday and then suffered a 6-3 loss to Trinity College (Conn.) on Sunday. The Panthers came into Friday's matchup against No. 14 Texas-Tyler fresh off a 6-3 victory over Rochester (N.Y.) two days earlier, however Chapman (3-5, 0-1 SCIAC) could not sustain the momentum and fell 9-0 to the Patriots.

Coming into the match, Chapman freshman Charlie Werman was a perfect 6-0 in dual matches this spring, but the rookie suffered his first loss 4-6, 6-3, 10-8 on the No. 4 court at the hands of Texas-Tyler's Ryan Spencer.

In doubles, Chapman duo senior Troy Akin and sophomore Brett Buford pushed Texas-Tyler to their limits but eventually were defeated 9-8.
