Werman and Buford bright spots in 6-3 loss
ORANGE, Calif. - The Chapman University men's tennis team fell to Christopher Newport 6-3 at Anaheim Hills Tennis Club on Sunday afternoon.
Senior Brett Buford and junior Charlie Werman won the first doubles match of the day defeating Steven Boslet and Chiraag Shetty 8-4. Buford also won his singles match, defeating David Reed in the No. 1 spot 6-4 and 6-3.
Werman pushed Steven Boslet to three sets to earn his second win of the day from the No. 3 spot. Werman opened up the match with a 6-4 victory, fell 6-4 in set two and defeated Boslet 7-5 in set three.
Senior Hunter Morris tied Shetty 6-6 in set one from the No. 4 spot, with Shetty owning the tie breaker 7-1. Shetty went on to defeat Morris 6-4 in the second set to earn the win.
The Panthers will host Sewanee at 1 p.m. on Saturday, March 12 looking to break their three-match losing streak.
