Men's tennis snaps skid with sweep of Oxy
ORANGE, Calif. – The Chapman University men's tennis team broke out of its recent skid with a 9-0 sweep of Occidental on Saturday. The dominant win marks the end of a 10-match slide for the Panthers.
Mathew Mead and Sam Mitteldorf set the tone with an 8-0 win in No. 3 doubles. The Panthers' top duo followed with an 8-1 win while Chapman took the No. 2 doubles match 8-3.
Chapman took all six singles matches in straight sets to complete the sweep. Brett Buford took the No. 1 match 6-0, 6-1. Charlie Werman improved to a team-best 7-5 on the season with a 6-1, 6-2 win at No. 2. Chris Damion took the No. 3 match in straight sets and Brock DeHaven won 6-2, 6-2 at No. 4. Rasmus Helms and Igor Silva completed the sweep with straight set wins at Nos. 5 and 6, respectively.
The Panthers improved to 2-10 on the year and 1-1 in the SCIAC. They head out to Pomona-Pitzer as they continue the SCIAC schedule.
