Men's tennis drops hard-fought match to Mary Washington
ORANGE, Calif. – The Chapman University men's tennis team fell 7-2 to visiting Mary Washington on Sunday. The Panthers captured both points in the singles matches.
Junior Caleb Wilkins won the No. 1 singles match in straight sets 6-3, 6-3. The Panthers bookended the singles lineup with wins as freshman Tommy Hayes claimed a three-set victory in the No. 6 match to clinch Chapman's two points.
The Panthers lost two more singles matches in a third set and narrowly suffered losses in two doubles matches. Wilkins and Harry Cohen dropped the No. 1 doubles match 8-6 while Mary Washington claimed an 8-7 victory in the No. 3 doubles match.
The Panthers next take on Swarthmore on Monday, March 7 at 3 p.m.
