Wilkins earns weekly award after week of upsets
ORANGE, Calif. – After a week of upsets, senior Caleb Wilkins has been named the SCIAC Athlete of the Week. Chapman's top-ranked player helped the Panthers take down Nos. 9 and 18 last week.
Wilkins went 1-1 in singles and 2-0 in doubles in the pair of upset wins. With Mac Caldwell as his double partner, the duo took down the top doubles teams from No. 18 Mary Washington and No. 9 Pomona-Pitzer.
Wilikins fell in the top singles match against Mary Washington and defeated his counterpart from Pomona-Pitzer to score a crucial third team point for Chapman in the upset win in SCIAC play.
The Panthers look to keep the momentum going when they enter in a break in the SCIAC schedule in March. Chapman hosts another ranked opponent in No. 37 Christopher Newport on Thursday at 1 p.m.
