Six Panthers earn ACWPC All-Academic honors

ORANGE, Calif. – Six members of the Chapman University men's water polo team have earned All-Academic awards for the 2010 season, according to the Association of Collegiate Water Polo Coaches (ACWPC). In addition, the team finished with the 16th highest grade-point average in the nation with a combined mark of 2.997.

The ACWPC All-Academic Awards are broken down into three levels based on grade-point average. An athlete with a GPA between 4.0 and 3.71 is "Outstanding." Those with a GPA ranging from 3.70 to 3.41 are "Superior" and the "Excellent" category is between 3.40 and 3.20.

All six Panthers earned "Superior" honors, including senior driver Mario Ruiz, sophomore goalie Taylor Roszkos and sophomore two-meter Nainoa Watson who were named to the team for the second time in their careers. Junior driver Eric Rafla-Yuan, junior utility Nick Van Nordheim and junior utility Pierre Masson rounded out the Panthers' five award recipients. The 2010 list marks the third time Masson has won an All-Academic award from the ACWPC.
