Carter named to All-Western Water Polo team

ORANGE, Calif. – Chapman University sophomore Brett Carter has earned All-Western Water Polo Association (WWPA) honors for the 2011 season. Playing the 2-meter, Carter led the Panthers with 53 goals this season and helped Chapman to a 13-13 overall record in the regular season. Chapman has had at least one player named to the All-Conference team each year since 2007.

It's the first All-Conference honors for the sophomore, who emerged as one of the top scoring threats in the WWPA this season. Carter ranked fifth in the WWPA in goals and scored 2.1 goals per game, including a career-high five goals against Vanguard University earlier this month. The Honolulu, Hawaii native also ranked third on the team with 24 assists and 25 steals.

The Panthers open WWPA Championships play on Thursday, facing the University of Redlands at 6 p.m. in La Jolla, Calif. Chapman is currently ranked No. 6 in Division III.
