Men's water polo earns sixth-best GPA in the nation
ORANGE, Calif. – The Chapman University men's water polo team continued its ascent up the team grade point average leaderboard, placing sixth in the nation according to the Association of Collegiate Water Polo Coaches (ACWPC). The Panthers' collective GPA of 3.210 in the 2012 season showed significant improvement over the past two seasons.

In addition, five members of the team earned All-Academic Awards from the ACWPC. The ACWPC All-Academic Awards are broken down into three levels based on GPA. An athlete with a GPA between 3.71 and 4.0 is "Outstanding". Those with a GPA ranging from 3.41 to 3.70 are "Superior" and the "Excellent" category is between 3.20 and 3.40.
Junior utility Kyle Kim-E was the sole Panther to earn "Superior" honors, marking his first ACWPC academic recognition. Four Panthers followed Kim-E, earning "Excellent" recognition as their first ACWPC honor: freshman utility Garrett Aanestad, junior driver James Vigeant, junior utility Kyle Troiano and sophomore utility Jake Gross.
The Panthers were the second-highest ranked SCIAC school behind Caltech (3.570), beating out Claremont-McKenna (3.200), Redlands (3.180), Occidental (3.060) and Pomona-Pitzer (3.000). Chapman also out-ranked several Division I schools including Cal Berkley, George Washington and Princeton.
