Men's polo earns No. 3 ranking nationally on eve of SCIAC tournament

ORANGE, Calif. – The Chapman University men's water polo team saw their Division III national ranking surge to No. 3 on the eve of the SCIAC Postseason Tournament, which the Panthers will host this weekend at the Allred Olympic Pool. Chapman jumped three spots in the Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) rankings after completing an 11-9 upset victory over then-ranked No. 2 Claremont-M-S on Saturday.

The Panthers, who currently rank fifth in the SCIAC standings, leapfrogged three conference foes (Redlands, Claremont-M-S and Pomona-Pitzer) in the national standings and trail No. 1 Whittier College by just 11 points.

Entering the postseason tournament as the No. 5 seed, the Panthers will face a tough test in the opening match as they take on a Pomona-Pitzer squad that handed them a 14-13 loss just two weeks ago. The two teams will play in the fifth and final match of the day with the opening sprint scheduled for 7 p.m.

Chapman will offer live streaming video of most of the tournament games, including all of the action on championship Sunday.

A complete tournament schedule, ticketing information and more can be found at the SCIAC Men's Water Polo Championship website.
