Asalone earns SCIAC honor after explosive week

ORANGE, Calif. – Sophomore Graham Asalone helped lead the men's water polo team to two home wins this week, earning SCIAC Offensive Athlete of the Week. The attacker contributed to a total of eight goals and eight assists to propel the Panthers to a 2-0 start to conference play.

The Carlsbad, Calif. native's first of three goals against Occidental on Wednesday night tied the match back up to 4-4. The goal sparked a four-goal flurry which led the Panthers to take the 13-9 victory. 

Asalone started off Saturday's game against Redlands strong, opening up the scoring with his first of five goals only three minutes into the first quarter. Asalone also tallied three assists, three earned ejections and two steals in the match to help the team take home a 13-11 victory.

Asalone currently leads the Panthers and the SCIAC with 35 goals and 19 assists in nine contests this season.
