Prussak nets six goals in men's water polo opening win

ORANGE, Calif — Men's Water Polo got off to a hot start on a hot day to open the 2022 season. The Panthers took care of the Ottawa (Ariz.) Spirit 14-9 behind six goals from sophomore Everett Prussak.

Chapman started the game with a first possession goal from senior Ryan Baumann. He pelted in his lone goal of the day from the top of the pool after an Ottawa exclusion.

Prussak started his scoring spree in the first, answering a goal from the Spirit. Trading goals the remainder of the first half, the Panthers saw themselves down 4-3 heading into the break.

Chapman picked up the pace in the second half as they tallied 11 goals in the two quarters, including a seven goal outburst in the final frame.

Prussak led the way with three of his goals coming in the fourth quarter in a 2:26 span.

Seven Panthers found the back of the net, with the only other multi-goal scorer being Daniel Franks with two.

Tending the goal for the Panthers, freshman Ben Blatt was stout all day saving nine goals in the victory.

The Panthers hit the pool next weekend, Sept. 10, when they'll travel to La Verne for the Inland Empire Classic, where they will face Biola and Ottawa, yet again, on the first day of the tournament.
