Men's water polo falls in opening round of SCIAC Tourney

ORANGE, Calif. – The sixth-seeded Chapman University men's water polo team fell 17-14 at third-seeded Cal Lutheran in the opening round of the SCIAC Tournament. With the loss, Chapman's season comes to an end.

Everett Prussak and Daniel Franks each scored three goals for the Panthers in the back-and-forth affair. Chapman led 5-4 after the first quarter, trailed 10-9 at halftime and took a 13-12 lead in the third. However, the Kingsmen scored the last two goals of the third quarter and ended the match on a 5-1 lead to advance to Friday's semifinals.

Just four days ago, the Panthers completed a season sweep of the Kingsmen. Chapman defeated Cal Lutheran on Saturday to end the regular season and hand the Kingsmen two of their four SCIAC losses. The Kingsmen were able to avoid a third loss in a row to Chapman with the late rally.

The Panthers ended the season with an 11-15 overall record.
