Lloyd sets Panthers' all-time coaching wins record

ORANGE, Calif.- In the midst of her 19th season at the helm of the Chapman University softball team, head coach Janet Lloyd broke her father's record to become the Panthers' all-time coaching wins leader with a 4-3 win over Redlands on Saturday. The former All-American has led the Panthers to a 17-3 start this season, improving her career mark to 535-242.

Lloyd began her coaching career in 1995 as co-head coach with her father, Lisle, and assumed sole responsibilities in 1999. Her successful tenure leading the Panthers started with a national championship in '95 and has since featured 12 playoff appearances, 23 All-American athletes and two West Region Coaching Staff of the Year recognitions.

The Division III softball all-time coaching wins record is held by the late Donna Newberry. The Muskingum head coach recorded 906 career wins before passing away in November of 2010.

Lloyd's team currently sits atop the SCIAC standings with a 12-2 conference record as they look to compete in the conference tournament in their first season of eligibility. The Panthers are entering a stretch of four straight home games that includes a doubleheader versus No. 9 Linfield on Friday, March 22.
