Tokunaga earns All-Region honors

ORANGE, Calif. – Sophomore sensation Mykala Tokunaga earned All-Region First Team honors earlier this afternoon after a stellar rookie season for the Panthers. The award comes after she led the team its first SCIAC Tournament appearance since the 2017 season.

Tokunaga was a force in the box for the Panthers, leading the squad and ranking second in the SCIAC with a .460 batting average against SCIAC opponents. She finished the season hitting .388 with 22 RBI, four doubles, two triples and a team-high two home runs.

At first base, the Hilo, Hawaii native led the Panthers with 206 total putouts and posted a .972 fielding percentage. She helped turn 10 of Chapman's 16 double plays this season to help the Panthers on the defensive end.

This is Tokunaga's first career All-Region award and it comes after she earned All-SCIAC First Team honors prior to the Postseason Tournament.
