Kelly's dominant debut lands SCIAC weekly honor
ORANGE, Calif. – Freshman Jillian Kelly has been named the SCIAC Pitcher of the Week after a near flawless debut week with the Chapman University softball team. Kelly started her career with a pair of dominant performances last week.
Kelly's career couldn't have begun any better as she no-hit Westcliff to begin the season. She struck out seven an walked only one for Chapman's first seven-inning no-hitter since 2001.
The dominance spilled into Sunday as she tossed a two-hit shutout against Puget Sound in the home-opener. She walked no Loggers and struck out 12. Seven Loggers struck out in their first trip through the lineup.
Kelly and the Panthers are back home on Sunday for a noon doubleheader against Pacific Lutheran.
