Lauwers named SCIAC Pitcher of the Week
ORANGE, Calif. – For the second week in a row, a Chapman University softball pitcher as earned the weekly honor from the SCIAC. Sophomore Simi Lauwers earned SCIAC Pitcher of the Week honors after a complete game shutout on Sunday.
Lauwers earned the honor just one week after teammate Jillian Kelly earned the honor. Lauwers tossed a three-hit shutout in Chapman's 3-0 win over Pacific Lutheran to complete a doubleheader sweep.
In her most dominant start of the season, Lauwers struck out 10 and scattered three hits to move the Panthers to 6-0 to start the season. No Lutes advanced past second base as Lauwers lowered her ERA to 0.70 through her first three starts. The pitching staff owns a 1.02 ERA.
Chapman jumps into the SCIAC schedule next week with a doubleheader at Occidental on Saturday.
