Softball captures seventh straight SCIAC victory
ORANGE, Calif. — Softball cruised its way to its seventh straight SCIAC victory, this time a 9-5 win over Redlands at El Camino Real Park on Friday, April 7.
The bats were working today for the Panthers as they rattled off 13 hits en route to the victory.
The game looked like a pitchers duel through the first two innings, but in the third, Chapman erupted for four runs. Morgan Lastinger got the party started with a two-run single. From there a hit from Ilianna Serna brought home the third run, and then Grace Fossleman reached first on an error which scored another.
Chapman tacked on two more in fourth when Lastinger hit another two-RBI single.
Jillian Kelly was great in the circle through the first four holding the Bulldogs scoreless, but ran into a little trouble in the fifth resulting in a four-run Redlands outburst.
Chapman got those runs back, however, as Fosselman, Taylor Cruz and Miranda Murphy all notched RBI singles in the bottom of the sixth.
Izzy Epstein would pitch the last two innings in the circle allowing only one hit and one run striking out two.
The Panthers, now 17-7 overall and 7-0 in SCIAC play will look to continue their winning ways against Redlands in a doubleheader tomorrow on the road.
