Home streak continues with win over Hope

ORANGE, Calif. - The Chapman University women's basketball team extended its winning to steak to six on Thursday night despite committing 31 turnovers as the Panthers defeated Hope International University 78-65 at the Hutton Sports Center. Chapman (12-6) remains undefeated at home this season with a 6-0 record and has won 11 in a row at Hutton dating back to last season.

For the first six minutes of the game, Chapman (12-6) let one-win Hope International hang around before the Panthers asserted themselves defensively. Leading 12-9 with 14:23 remaining in the first half, Chapman went on a 14-0 run to take a commanding 26-9 lead. The visiting Royals narrowed the Panthers' lead to nine on a jumper by freshman G Lyndsay Salazar but that would be as close as they would get.

Chapman built a 46-24 lead at halftime capped off by a three-pointer at the buzzer by sophomore G Kelli Yamamoto.

The Panthers pushed their lead to 26 in the second half before Hope rallied to within 13 at 78-65 to end the game. The Royals outscored Chapman 41-32 in the second half on 53 percent shooting.

Three Panthers finished in double-figures led by senior PG Lauren Kamiyama's 13 points and six assists, junior Lynda Ly had 12 and freshman G Mary Petrie added 10 points.
