Chapman 'D' makes it a clean sweep against La Sierra

ORANGE, Calif. - With its full-court pressure, the Chapman University women's basketball team held visiting La Sierra University to 35 points - a season-low for the Panthers' defense - en route to a 63-35 victory on Saturday night at the Hutton Sports Center. Five of Chapman's six seniors combined for 25 points to lead a balanced scoring attack in the win

La Sierra (6-17) hung around for several minutes, trailing 13-5 at the 10 minute mark of the first half. The Panthers would then go on a 20-5 run to close out the half with a 31-10. Chapman held the Golden Eagles to just 10 first-half points on 17 percent shooting while forcing 27 turnovers.

In the second half, Chapman (17-8) built as large as a 32-point lead. Senior C Andrijana Kerkez, sophomore G Jenna Nakasu and junior G Linda Ly each scored seven points to lead the Panthers as no Chapman player reached double-figures in scoring. Senior PG Lauren Kamiyama, among those honored prior to the game on ‘Senior Night', finished the game with five points, eight assists and six steals.

The Panthers forced a season-high 37 turnovers and improved to a perfect 8-0 at home this season. Chapman swept all three games against the Golden Eagles this season, including two at Hutton Center.

Audrey Ramos scored nine points and nine rebounds to pace the Golden Eagles.
