Kamiyama earns All-West Region honors

ORANGE, Calif. - Chapman University senior PG Lauren Kamiyama has been selected to the D3Hoops.com All-West Region team after helping the Panthers to their ninth consecutive NCAA Division III postseason tournament. Kamiyama becomes the first Panther since Melody Bongiorno in 2003-04 to win the award.

The senior and team captain was named to the second team, leading Chapman (20-9) with 117 assists and 50 three-pointers this season. In February, Kamiyama became the Panthers' all-time assists leader and finished with 424 assists and 174 three-pointers - both school records.

In 2008-09 she also averaged 9.7 points and scored 20 or more points in a game four times, including scoring 24 in the Panthers' overtime playoff win over Occidental College in March. She had a career-high 12 assists vs. Occidental during a regular season win, as well.

Last month Kamiyama was also named to the All-Independents team for the third time in her career.
