ORANGE, Calif. – On the heels of a 14-11 season and fifteenth-consecutive winning season, four Chapman University women’s basketball players have been selected to the 2010 Association of Division III Independents, All-Independent team.

Similar to last season, Chapman’s All-Independent selections are highlighted by its guards as three of its four players selected to the 2010 team are perimeter players. Senior G Linda Ly was named to the first team while junior transfer Casey Gomez and sophomore Mary Petrie were named honorable mention.

Junior C Simone Ibbotson, the Panthers leading scorer (13.4 ppg.) and rebounder (7 rpg.) was selected to the second team. Ibbotson also led the team in minutes played per game (28.8) and blocks (26).

This is the third All-Independent selection for Ly who became Chapman’s Division III leader in games played with 111 and also became just the ninth women’s basketball player at Chapman to score 1,000 points in her career. Ly led the Panthers in assists (85), steals (60) and was the second leading scorer averaging 11 points per game. Gomez and Petrie finished third and fourth in scoring, averaging 9.2 and 9.1 points per game, respectively.
