Fajardo's double-double, Criswell's 25 lead Panthers to Senior Night win

ORANGE, Calif. – The Chapman University women's basketball team wrapped up the regular season with a convincing win over La Verne. Senior Jaryn Fajardo celebrated her last home game with her fourth double-double of the season.

Junior Lucy Criswell scored 25 points to lead the way while Fajardo ended up with 15 points, 12 rebounds, six assists and three steals. Junior Marissa Dunn was 7-of-10 from the floor for 14 points and freshman Julianna Campas scored 13 points off the bench.

Chapman led just 7-5 after the first four and a half minutes but quickly separated from the Leopards with a 14-4 run to end the quarter up 21-9. Four different Panthers scored during an 8-0 section of the run that turned a four-point game into a double digit lead.

Dunn and Campas combined to outscore La Verne in the second quarters as the two put up 11 points while the Leopards scored only six. Chapman held the Leorpards to just 2-of-22 shooting in the quarter while the Panthers scored 19 points and pushed the lead to 40-15 at halftime.

Criswell took over in the third quarter, sinking back-to-back-to-back three-point shots and going on to score the first 11 points of the quarter for a 51-15 Chapman lead. After La Verne finally answered with a bucket, she scored again to put up Chapman's first 13 points of the quarter.

Chapman's lead continued to grow to as much as 37 points as the Panthers cruised to the Senior Day win.

Chapman finished the regular season 16-9 and 11-5 in the SCIAC and clinched the No. 3 seed in next week's SCIAC Postseason Tournament. The Panthers will travel to No. 2 Pomona-Pitzer for the semifinal game on Thursday at 7 p.m.
