Campas scores 17 in loss

ORANGE, Calif — Women's basketball dropped a close contest to the Cal Lutheran Regals Saturday, Dec. 3 afternoon, 73-65.

The game was consistently back-and-forth, with the Panthers controlling the score for the majority of the contest, even leading 40-32 with 5:58 left in the third quarter. At that point the Panthers were coming off the heels of an 8-2 run to grow to their largest lead of the night.

Midway through the fourth, the Regals took a 56-55 lead, and never let it up, outsourcing the Panthers 17-10 through the final 6:45.

The Panthers were led by Julianna Campas who finished with 17 points shooting 7-13 from the field and 3-6 from beyond the arc. Mia Yamamoto added 16 points and Zoe Zurasky provided some scoring off of the bench with 13 points.

Chapman struggled from the field shooting 34%, but were much better from long range clocking in at 40%.

With the loss, the Panthers fell to 3-4 on the season and 1-2 in SCIAC play. Cal Lutheran improved to 3-0 and 1-0.

Chapman will look to get back into the win column next Wednesday when it hosts Claremont-M-S at 7 p.m.
