Cho leads women's golf through first fall tournament

VENTURA, Calif. – The Chapman University women's golf team travelled up to Olivas Links for its fall tournament at the CA State Intercollegiate. The Panthers ended the two-round tournament in seventh place. Sophomore Emily Cho led the way for Chapman with a career-low round.

As a team, the Panthers showed a seven stroke improvement and jumped up one spot on the team leaderboard from day one to day two. Chapman put together a 308 (+20) in the second round after shooting a 315 (+27) in the first to leap The Master's College in the standings and finish the tournament 47-over par.

Cho finished the tournament with a career-best 73 (+1) to lead the Panthers. She was seven-over par for the tournament to finish 18th overall. She was even with par on the par threes, made par 24 times in the 36 holes and birdied three more.

Rachel Truong improved three strokes from one round to the next. Truong opened with a 79 and finished with a 76 to finish with a 155 (+11) in 29th individually. Nicole Chang made her Chapman debut with a 78 (+6) and added a round of 80 (+8) to finish in 36th.

Shanna Schuckman finished the tournament with a 160 (+16) and Danielle DeKock was 20-over with a 164.

The Panthers ended the tournament ahead of SCIAC foes La Verne and Occidental. Nationally-ranked Redlands was 12-under par as a team to take the team title.

Chapman wraps up its fall tournament schedule with the Chapman Quad on October 9-10.
