Five Panthers earn women’s lacrosse All-SCIAC selections

ORANGE, Calif. – Five members of the Chapman University women's lacrosse team earned All-SCIAC selections earlier this morning. Senior Stacey Zuppa headlined the awards, earning a spot on the First Team, while juniors Danielle Zahn and Shelby Thompson and sophomores Ally Kroeckel and Alexandra Callaway were selected to the Second Team.

Zuppa is a strong force for the Panthers in her final season, starting every game she played in this year so far. She leads the Panthers with 37 goals, 16 assists, and 54 draw controls this year. She has tallied 26 goals, 11 assists and 37 draw controls just in SCIAC play. The senior captain also ranks second on the team with 25 caused turnovers, 15 of which came against conference opponents.

Zahn is also a force for Chapman in the midfield, tallying 25 goals and four assists as well as 26 draw controls this year. She has scored 16 goals and dished out three assists in SCIAC play. On top of her offensive presence, the junior captain also ranks third on the squad with 23 caused turnovers and second with 35 ground balls.

Thompson continues to be a strong presence on defense for the Panthers in her junior campaign. The captain led the squad with 30 caused turnovers and 41 ground balls after starting every match this season. She caused 14 turnovers against SCIAC opponents while picking up 22 ground balls in conference matches.

Kroeckel is also a key member of Chapman's defense, tallying 18 ground balls and 18 turnovers in her 14 matches. She racked up 13 of those ground balls and 14 turnovers against conference opponents.

Callaway is crucial in the Panthers' offense in her first season, starting every match this year while tallying 24 goals and three assists. The rookie ranks second on the squad with 17 goals against SCIAC opponents. On top of her presence on offense, she also tallied a caused turnover and 10 ground balls, six of which came in conference matches.

Junior Lucy Schwartz was named to the All-SCIAC Sportsmanship team for her work on and off the field.
