Women's lacrosse completes season sweep of Redlands

REDLANDS, Calif. – The Chapman University women's lacrosse team completed a season sweep of Redlands with a 12-9 road win on Saturday. Seven different Panthers scored in the wire-to-wire win.

The Panthers scored the first four goals of the game and never relinquished the lead. Senior Aisling Roberts scored the first goal for Chapman, converting a first-minute free position opportunity.

Goals by Danni Malinski, Cami Goldsberry and Corinn Valeri over the first 10 minutes gave Chapman the initial 4-0 lead. All three went on to score another goal in the match along with two-goal matches from Alexandra Callaway and Emily Allen.

Redlands fought back to make it 8-5 at halftime and cut the lead to one with the first two goals of the second half. Chapman answered every time Redlands pulled within one as the teams traded goals. With 8:38 to go, Redlands made it a one-goal game at 10-9. Goldsberry scored less than a minute later and freshman Maya Hasenfang scored an insurance goal with just left than six minutes left for the final margin.

Senior Preetha Raj made seven saves and Jessica Ricketts picked up six draw controls.

The Panthers head back home next week to take on George Fox on Friday at 1 p.m.
