Panthers roll past Bulldogs

ORANGE, Calif — A career-high 13 saves for Anna Hereu and a trio of hat tricks from Anna Close, Emily Allen, and Jessica Ricketts propelled Chapman to a convincing 17-8 win over the Redlands Bulldogs on Tuesday, Mar. 22.

The Panthers started keeping the game close, as the two teams entered the half with a two point differential, 6-4 Panthers. Coming out of the locker room, however, Chapman opened the floodgates and dominated the Bulldogs 11-4 in the final two quarters.

On top of Hereu's fantastic play at the net, the Panther defense held the Bulldogs to 12-for-18 on clear attempts. Chapman also grabbed three more ground balls despite the turnovers being split at 16 each team.

Offensively, the Panthers kept the pressure on all game as they got off 38 shots on the Redlands defense. On top of the hat tricks, five other Panthers found the back of the net, three of them — Corinn Valeri, Annika Carlson, and Vanessa Topete — scored two apiece.

With the win, Chapman improves to 5-2 on the season and 2-2 in SCIAC play. Redlands fell to 3-5 and 2-3. Chapman also jumps past Redlands in the SCIAC standings.

The Panthers are back in action at Wilson Field on Friday when they host Willamette at 11 a.m.
