Women's lacrosse routs Redlands

ORANGE, Calif. – The Chapman University women's lacrosse team dominated early and cruised to a 19-5 win over visiting Redlands on Saturday. The Panthers were dominant on the defensive end, allowing just three shots in the first half.

Chapman opened up the match on a 9-0 run and the rout was on early in the second quarter. With a 19-8 advantage in draw controls, including a 6-2 advantage in the opening quarter, the Panthers were able to score early and often. Annika Carlson and Jessica Ricketts led the offensive effort with three goals apiece as 15 different Panthers recoded at least one point.

Chapman also forced 14 first half turnovers from Redlands and 22 in total. The Panthers had 12 caused turnovers, led by four from Parker House. Redlands managed only one shot in the first quarter, two in the second and two more in the third before scoring three times on five shots in the fourth with the game well in hand.

Carlson put the Panthers on the board just two minutes into the match and the Panthers didn't let up. They led 6-0 at the end of the first quarter and had the lead at double digits with 6:44 left in the second. They led 13-1 at halftime and continued to roll to a 17-2 lead at the end of the third quarter.

Elise Mayer led the Panthers with five draw controls. House tied for the lead with five draw controls but added four ground balls and two goals to her four cause turnovers.

The Panthers are on the road next week to take on Pomona-Pitzer but return home April 19 to face Cal Lutheran at 7 p.m.
