Panthers snap Webster's shutout streak... then win streak

ORANGE, Calif. -  Undaunted by facing a Webster team that hadn't allowed a goal in five games, the Chapman University women's soccer team first scored a goal, and then beat the previously unbeaten Gorloks with an double-overtime 2-1 win at Wilson Field on Saturday afternoon.

Sophomore F Alicia Fraticelli scored the game-winner in the 107th minute to give the Panthers' their third win of the season and second in as many home games this year.

Webster (5-1), which entered the game having shutout all five previous opponents in 2008, posted another zero on the scoreboard at the end of the first half against host Chapman (3-3). A 33rd minute goal by Christy Capkovic gave the Gorloks a 1-0 lead going into the break.

But five minutes into the second half, Chapman struck back. Freshman F Kate Lilly scored her team-leading third goal of the season in the 50th minute to even the score at 1-1. It would remain tied into two overtime periods before Fraticelli scored the clincher off a pass from junior F Stephanie Lambrakis.

Chapman out-shot Webster 23-9 in the game. Gorloks' GK Jessica Kozeny made nine saves in goal, while senior GK Madison Coffin made a pair of saves for the Panthers.
