Home struggles for women's soccer continue with 3-2 loss to Cal Lu

ORANGE, Calif. – With three home games completed this season, the Chapman University women's soccer team is still in search of its first home win of the year after losing 3-2 to Cal Lutheran on Monday night at Wilson Field. The Panthers are now 0-2-1 this season at home, with losses to Cal Lu, No. 6 Emory University and a double overtime tie against George Fox.

Chapman (3-3-1) got the game off to a quick start as sophomore M Danielle Molina knocked in a goal in the fifth minute after a direct kick by junior D Tess Amato ricocheted off the crossbar in front of the net. The goal by Molina was the first of her career. Just over three minutes later in the eighth minute, Cal Lutheran evened the score at 1-1 with a goal by senior M Rebekah Casas.

Freshman F Taylor Will then took over for Cal Lutheran (6-1), scoring her teams next two goals - one in 33rd minute, the other in the 74th minute – as Cal Lutheran took a commanding 3-1 lead. Chapman had its hands full with Will who attempted six of the Regals' 12 shots in the game, including three on goal.

In the 89th minute, junior F Aimee Evans broke the Panthers scoring drought with a breakaway goal off an assist from freshman F Rebecca Bortz which narrowed Cal Lutheran's lead to 3-2. Evans is now tied for the team lead with four goals on the season.

Senior GK Chloe Canta made her season debut for Chapman returning after an injury that sidelined her for the final part of the 2010 season. She had two saves for the Panthers.
