Seniors go out on top with 3-0 win over La Verne

ORANGE, Calif. – The Chapman University women's soccer team and its four seniors – Rosie Chinen, Bree Sasaki, Kate Lilly and Chloe Canta – topped the University of La Verne 3-0 in the final game of the season on Wednesday night at Wilson Field.

At the 12:02 mark of the first half, freshman M Emma Castleton scored from right in front of the net off an assist from Lilly to give Chapman (7-8-3) a 1-0 lead. Lilly who had been out the majority of the season because of a torn ACL, made the start anyways on Wednesday and recorded an assist and had three shot attempts in 18 minutes played.

After the initial goal, it took the Panthers well into the second half to get its second goal. In the 68th minute freshman M Olivia Do scored her second goal of the season of an assist from freshman F Rebeccah Bortz. For Bortz it was her team-leading third assist of the season.

The Panthers final goal came with six minutes remaining in the game when junior F Aimee Evans scored from the right wing of an assist from Chinen.

La Verne (2-12-3) mustered just five shots against Chapman on the night, with three coming in the second half, and just one shot on goal. The shot on goal by La Verne came in the first half by sophomore D Brianna Romero and was saved by Canta for her lone save of the night. Similar to Lilly, Canta started the final game of her career despite also having suffered a torn ACL earlier in the season.

Chapman attempted 19 shots in the game, putting nine shots on goal. La Verne freshman GK Delanie Pachecco had six saves on the night.
