Trio of Panthers earn All-SCIAC honors

All-SCIAC conference release

ORANGE, Calif. –  The Chapman University women's soccer team landed three Panthers on the 2016 SCIAC All-Conference women's soccer team. Senior goalkeeper Kristin Kleinow earned All-SCIAC honors for the second time while sophomore midfielder Lindsay Erl and freshman defender Faith Holloway each earned their first career selection. All three were selected to the Second Team.

Kleinow started in all 20 matches for the Panthers and ranked third in the conference with 105 saves this season and second with a career-high seven shutouts. The Yorba Linda native's performance in the SCIAC semifinals led Chapman to an upset of top-seeded Pomona-Pitzer. She made 10 saves in the contest and stopped all five penalty kicks in the shootout. She graduates with 326 career saves – nearly doubling the previous Chapman record. Her 14 career shutouts rank third all-time at Chapman. This is Kleinow's second time receiving all-conference recognition in her career, she was named to the All-SCIAC First Team in 2014 after leading the SCIAC with 114 saves.

Erl was a fixture in Chapman's lineup, starting 19 of 20 matches for the Panthers this year. Her one goal this year was a game-winner in 3-1 win at La Verne. She ranked in the SCIAC top-10 with 2.15 shots per game to earn All-SCIAC honors for the first time in her career. In conference play, she ranked sixth in the SCIAC with 43 shots. The sophomore also led Chapman with 16 shots on goal this season, ranking in the top-20 in the conference. Her play in the midfield helped Chapman make the quick rise from eight place a year ago to a fourth place finish in the standings this year and an appearance in the SCIAC championship match.

Holloway made an immediate impact on the Panthers' back line, starting all 20 matches this season. The freshman from Rocklin, Calif., is the first Panther freshman since 2013 to earn All-SCIAC honors. She helped the Panthers lower their goals against average from 1.79 in 2015 to 1.56 this year. She also helped the Panthers to seven shutouts this season – the most for Chapman since 2012. Holloway scored her first career goal in a crucial 2-1 win over Occidental that gave the Panthers an initial lead.
