Bland posts 11 saves, earns SCIAC Athlete of the Week

ORANGE, Calif. – Sophomore Kelsey Bland helped lead the Chapman women's soccer team to a couple of big wins this week, earning SCIAC Defensive Athlete of the Week.

Bland posted her second shutout of the season with a 1-0 victory over No. 20 MIT on Tuesday afternoon. The goalkeeper tallied six saves against the nationally-ranked Engineers to help lift Chapman to victory.

Bland then posted five saves in the Panthers' 1-0 victory over Willamette University to earn her third shutout and help Chapman to a 4-0 start to the season.

The Panthers head to Whittier College on Saturday, Sept. 14 at 11 a.m. to face the Poets in a non-conference match.
