Bland makes 11 saves as women's soccer makes return

THOUSAND OAKS, Calif. – Junior Kelsey Bland made 11 saves but the Chapman University women's soccer fell 2-0 at Cal Lutheran in its return.

The Panthers played in their first match since the end of the 2019 season, which was also at Cal Lutheran. After almost a year-and-a-half away, Chapman returned to the pitch for the first time. The two teams will meet again on Wednesday.

Cal Lutheran scored a goal in each half to secure the win. Bland made six saves in the first half and five more in the second to keep the Panthers in the match. However, the Panthers were outshot 22-6 as Cal Lutheran controlled possession for most of the match.

Chapman will look to avenge the loss on Wednesday when they meet Cal Lutheran at 7 p.m. on Wilson Field.
