Women's soccer falls on last-minute goal

ORANGE, Calif. – The Chapman University women's soccer team wrapped up its short spring season with a 1-0 loss to Cal Lutheran on Wilson Field on Wednesday. The Panthers were able to honor their six seniors in a pre-match ceremony prior to their final game.

After 89 scoreless minutes, the Regals scored the only goal of the match with just 38 seconds left in the second half. Mandy Crawford headed in the game-winner.

Junior Kelsey Brand made seven more saves to give her 18 total saves over the Panthers' two matches this spring. Senior Anna Montemor fired off two of Chapman's four shots.

Chapman returned to the field in March and was able to schedule the two matches with Cal Lutheran this spring after the cancellation of the 2020 soccer season due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The Panthers will return to a normal fall schedule in 2021.
