Jose tallies first goal of the season: Women's Soccer falls

ORANGE, Calif — Women's soccer opened its season Thursday afternoon on a sweltering day at Wilson Field. While Chapman led after the first half, the Panthers dropped the opener 2-1 to the Gustavus Adolphus Golden Gusties.

Like the weather, the Panthers got off to a hot start with senior midfielder Lily Jose connecting on a shot right by the goal at 36:49 following an Emily Harper shot that rickashayed off of the goalkeeper.

The Golden Gusties, however, bounced back right out of the locker room, scoring two goals in six minutes.

Chapman had a few opportunities in the second half, including a great look from Cristina Inboden in the 71st minute, but the Panthers couldn't cash in.

Chapman is right back in action on Saturday at 9:30 a.m. when the squad is set to take on Wisconsin-La Crosse.
